The entire world really does become a stage in the UK premiere of Continuous City, a new multi-media theatre experience by New York's critically acclaimed The Builders Association.
A travelling businessman uses electronic media to keep in touch with his daughter, her nanny and his boss. Revealing how travel and technology have changed our sense of place, this intriguing piece also shows how technologies designed to bring us closer together can actually increase the distances between us.
Blending live performance with media shot in London and other cities around the world, the piece also incorporates a participatory website and onsite live filming that takes it beyond the walls of Southbank Centre, to encompass the wide world itself.
'Dazzling and unsettling... a provocative exploration of technology as a global force for connection and disconnection.' (San Francisco Chronicle)
Presented in association with LIFT 2010 - a Londonwide Festival of International Theatre.
Company members discuss 'the networked self' and research residencies undertaken in the creation of the show.
