A man is contaminated by a mysterious radioactive cloud that causes him to shrink.

Inspiring a wave of films exploring the theme of physical metamorphosis, Arnold's film was extremely innovative in its employment of special effects and its camerawork. Lead character Grant Williams is contaminated by a mysterious radioactive cloud that causes him to shrink, and subsequently has to cope with new-found physical perils, media noteriety and, perhaps most interestingly, existential angst.
