Perfection Machines

Do machines express the human ideals of perfection? This event explores the essential nature of the machines we have created, from cars to mobile phones to robots. We ponder the extent to which human desires and needs are mapped onto our personal and political ideals through the expression of 'The Machine'.

The panel includes:

  • Dr Mark Miodownik (Chair), Head of the Materials Research Group, King's College London
  • Professor Richard Sennett, sociologist and writer at New York University and London School of Economics
  • Professor Noel Sharkey, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at University of Sheffield and chief judge on Robot Wars.

This event is part of the Perfection of the Mind, Body and Machine discussion series. Save on the ticket price when all three events are booked at the same time.

Supported by the EP Abraham Cephalosporin Fund.
