With its bustling streets, green parks and rich history around every corner, London always has plenty to catch your eye. What is not so well known is the science that keeps the city alive. As you discover the engineering of Tower Bridge, the geology of our streets and the biodiversity of the River Thames, the Royal Society's guided walking tours explain how science has contributed to the city you see today and delivers you straight into the heart of the festival.
The walk is approximately 4km/2.5 miles long and takes roughly two hours. It begins at Tower of London and finishes at Southbank Centre. Please note there will be no stops to sit down and the tour involves staircases. Meeting point on the pavement next to visitor shop, opposite the main entrance to the Tower.
A recording of the walk is now available below to do the walk yourself. Please also download the following map and information.
