Tower of London

The Tower of London is the starting point for Walking the science of the city, the South Bank walking tour starting at Tower of London and ending at Royal Festival Hall. The guides will meet participants outside the gift shop by the main entrance/exit at Middle Tower.

In the early 1080s, William the Conqueror began to build a massive stone tower at the centre of his London fortress. Nothing like it had ever been seen before.

Through the centuries that followed, successive monarchs added to the fortifications making the Tower of London one of the world’s most prominent landmarks.
